2009 blitz tournament?

| It would obviously be just as easy/hard as the Continuous Tournament itself. However, until Omar makes the scheduler a generally usable tool, only one tournament can run at a time. Furthermore, I'm the only one besides Omar who currently has access to the scheduler, and I won't be running any tournaments until my book is finally finished. Sorry! Please pester Omar for a tournament manager tool like ToMaTo on the Internet Chess Club. That said, I encourage you to start a blitz tournament without the scheduler. We have done so before: http://arimaa.com/arimaa/forum/cgi/YaBB.cgi?board=talk;action=display;nu m=1112302914 As you can see from that thread, we never finished. Without a scheduler, you can't force the players to find a common time, and you can't forfeit the player who doesn't show up. Nevertheless, maybe the people who sign up for your blitz tournament may be more committed than the group we had four years ago. And even if not all of the games finish, you can have a lot of fun! I wouldn't sign up for the tournament, but I'm sure that if you organize it, naveed will play. Any others?

i was thinking about and i think, because we dont have a scheduler, we can make it a round robin which is easier to organize Each Player plays every other participant twice no need for preset times, just challenge whenever you see someone online(we might introduce preset times around the end to make sure it finishes) One match gold, one match silver each person has to agree that its a Tourney game before and after it starts (i expect integrity) The time setting is the simple "blitz" time in gameroom All results need to be posted in forum so i can update Table invite anyone who doesn't know about it *Modify April 19 Tiebreakers are determined by the two players scores against one another -if it remains a tie still then the person with a lower total amount of moves in all of their wins will take the better position *Modify April 20 Tournament Games against Bots must be announced (a post in chat or forum telling me that the following game will count) Otherwise, they will be considered practice

clueless will play, but after the challenge is over, I want to let it run a couple days at blitz speed to test out janzert's interface before any games count, to prevent any unfortunate problems.

Brilliant! The Tournament is officially started! People can still join though, if there are any late starters Whenever you put Clueless online is fine, seeing as other players wont be starting for a couple of weeks ill update a Score Board whenever people post (both players) of a finished game (In Wiki)
