Forced 3 times repetition in postal mixer

Omar, have you implemented forced 3 times repetition as a victory condition already? It is important for the points given in postal mixer. For a game taking more than 60 turns forced lose on time would "give" -60 points to the loser while lose on forced 3 times repetition would give him +60 points.

Yes, the server detects 3 time repetitions. Some of the clients like Flash V2 and JavaScript will warn you if you trying sending a 3 time repetition move.

That isn't exactly what Hippo's asking, he wants to know if the server will detect that all available moves will cause a 3x repetition, granting a win by immobilization, because there exists no legal moves, even though moves are available.

| No it doesn't check for that. If it happens I'll have to manually change the timeout to an immobilization.

| I'm fairly sure that has never happened in the history of Arimaa, but it is a valid point.

OK, it seemed to be good decision. So if you want to play you could not be forced to lose 60 points. on Apr 24th, 2010, 8:30am, Fritzlein wrote: I'm fairly sure that has never happened in the history of Arimaa, but it is a valid point. |
| http://arimaa.com/arimaa/gameroom/comments.cgi?gid=125860 I have already forced clueless to lose that way, but hoped it will lose on time and left the game. The game ended by abandoned (you have already commented it).

I never put that check in since it would be so rare for this to occur. It also would not have occurred in this game if Hippo had not purposely created the situation by passing up several goal in one moves. I've changed the result of this game. Thanks for letting me know about it.

Yes, I think this could rarely happen in a game where one side is not clearly winning. I just consider it as a kind of playing with the opponent (as I was trying to understand 3x repetition well ). It just seemed to me scoring rules do not reflect the possibility well ... I would like to clasify it as forced 3 repetition win, but immobilisation is OK as well.

| I had totally forgotten about that, but even now that I remember it doesn't count since you created the situation artificially to prove a point.

I would not do it to humans, but seems OpFor would not mind ... and now when just I am waiting on his moves it goes rather fast

Hmm, seems I have maneuvered to such a position where winning on forced 3 times repetition would be the easist way to victory. I hope OpFor prefers that to the h-file goal. ... no ... it would be immobilisation forced by otherwise 3 times repetition. ... no ... it would be much easier to immobilise without using 3 times repetition ...

I must say I have not played optimally, but I have supposed OpFor would complicate my goal more. Now there are last 4 moves for it.

So finally bot_OpFor chosen to made an illegal move in a situation where no legal move remained. I suppose it's 55 points for it now, not the -60.
