2017 WC Volunteers and Commentary

As with past years, the real success of the World Championship comes from the community, not the tournament director.
Unlike past years, this year I strongly encourage everyone involved in the tournament to volunteer. You need not be a skilled or experienced player to contribute to our community, and we welcome all efforts. Here is what you can do to help:
Tournament Coordinator
The most important role is that of Tournament Coordinator (TC). In order to ensure the games run as smoothly as possible and to head off disputes, one TC watches each world championship game. In the unlikely event of a game crashing due to problems with the Arimaa.com server you would be responsible for restarting it. You would also answer any rules questions the players have, or get my attention if necessary. I have not once in 3 years of TCing had to restart a game, so it nearly always is just a chance to sit back and watch some great Arimaa!
Commentator
The live commentary we do is something that makes the World Championship special. I've heard as much from our players every year. The technical details of commentary are being worked out at this moment, but even newer players with vibrant personalities can contribute here. I will have more details on this in a future post.
Other Jobs
There are a lot of simple things that can be done to help with the WC. Read our rules. Got feedback or suggestions? Put them out there! We want to hear what you have to say. The wiki always needs editing and cleaning up. As we generate commentary, we need someone to edit out long silences and upload them to the Google Drive we use. I'm sure there are things to be done that I haven't even thought of yet.
