About 4-5 years ago, I had about the same idea Omar had - ie, make a game computers can't beat humans at. Now I've discovered Arimaa, and it does it a lot better than the game I came up with! I'm loving it.
I've been a chess player all my life, so learning Arimaa strategies is coming along pretty well for me. I'm eager to start work on a new bot to take a stab at beating some humans.

As for my bot, I've contemplated many things. I will almost certainly do some alpha-beta searching, but I think my focus will be elsewhere. Right now I'm working on a homemade non-academic neural net that I think I'll use as an evaluator. I say "non-academic" because my degree is philosophy and I've never even read a technical book about how exactly neural nets work, but I know the concepts, and I'm a decent programmer.
