Will the tournament bots now be available to play against? I'm looking forward to seeing Belbo's first 8 games against bomb . Actually I'm looking forward to playing bomb too when I have some hours to kill.

Hi Toby, I've put Bomb online. It is the exact same one that I played against in the challenge match (same machine, same settings). Give it a try. Omar

What happened to the tournament bots? Were they taken off line because humans have found a weakness to exploit? If that is the reason, I don't believe it is a good one. From time to time, the humans will discover a new strategy that will defeat the older algorithms. This is a part of the evolution of the game. The old bot_bomb should be kept available for people to play against, regardless of whether people can now beat it or not. Bomb's rating will go down, and the humans' ratings will go up, but will stabilize eventually. That's what ratings do.

Bringing the tourney bots back might also help the player-of-the-month tourney, because we'd have to beat bot_bomb at least once a month. That would keep the human pool up to scratch.

Sorry for the delay in replying. I've been pretty busy at work lately. I just finished setting up a page where we can start the bots manually and play against them. Check out http://arimaa.com/arimaa/bots/ Omar

Quick suggestion: I noticed that people are not playing the bots you can start up yet. (I haven't had time over the last week to play a game, sorry.) Perhaps if there were a link to starting the bots on the main "Arimaa Bots" page, people would find out about them sooner. Right now, I do not believe that many people are aware that they can start these bots.
