Recurring bot problem

Omar, Just now grey_0x2A played Arimaazilla in game 19354. Arimaazilla lost on time, and didn't come back for another game. Also the game doesn't show up in the recent games list, and doesn't show up in the commented games list even after being commented by grey_0x2A and myself. I think this exact thing has happened before, although I haven't verified all the details until now. Do you have any idea what is causing this behavior? Thanks in advance.

Fritzlein I believe that to appear in the game list you have to have played a minimum number of moves, maybe 5. It looks like it's voluntary.

The game is still there, but since it was less than 5 moves, it does not appear in the list as Arimanator mentioned.

I've played 2 games against bot_bomb2005Fast in the past, 24 hours ago and 48 hours ago, respectively. I won both games, once with silver, the other time with gold. Unfortunately, there's no record of yesterday's game at all and I can't remember the game ID#

| Unfortunately, I believe those games are lost forever, I have at least 6 or 7 games like that won against different bots and that never appeared on the game list, we'd better declare water under the bridge on these ones.

| OK, that explains why the game did not appear in the recent games list. But why did Arimaazilla disappear after this game and not re-login for another? I guess it isn't a big deal to figure that out, because you can periodically log in to the server and manually start any bots that are AWOL. Thanks for all your hard work maintaining the server!

OK, I just played a 39-move game against Belbo, and it isn't showing up in the recent games list, so the 5-move cutoff doesn't explain this glitch. Perhaps it has something to do with him losing on time. Perhaps it is also related to the symptom that I didn't have an asterisk by my own name in the game display despite being seated. I can see the game through the "My Finished Games" link: it is number 19653. Oh, and Arimaazilla is AWOL again after losing to JDB on time, although that game (19640) does show in the recent games list.

| Fritzlein, I believe I can explain this, the clock of the room has been readjusted roughfly while you were playing against Belbo, which means that the game actually appears on the list but 12 hours back in time, the clock is now in sync with the real time, as far as I can tell. So this was just a necessary side effect of the correction of a wider problem.

Ah, thank you Arimanator. I can see the game now among the recent games. I had always assumed the games were sorted by id#, but I guess they are actually sorted by time of completion. You have a sharp eye!

| Not sure yet what's wrong with Arimaazilla after the move. I'll check into soon.

| Im running a NTP deamon on the new server (instead of a cron job which updated once an hour on the old server). But I noticed that it had stopped yesterday and restarted it. I didn't realize that the time had skewed so much. I better be careful not to restart it if there are games in progress.

Fixed the problem with Arimaazilla getting stuck. A sleep command was getting a negitive value. On the old system it returned right away; on the new system a negitive value causes it to sleep forever
