firefox crashing problem

Just wondering if anyone has had any success with combatting the problem of firefox crashing while playing. To narrow down the problem a bit more I'd like to ask these questions: 1) Do people using windows and firefox have the same problem? So far, the reports I've read generally say that the problem happens under linux at around the 20ish move. 2)Does anyone NOT experience the problem that is using firefox in linux, or windows if the problem exists there too? 3)Is it just firefox, or do all mozilla based browsers do it? It really gets stressful to restart the browser and reload the game almost every move towards the end of the game. Any clues towards a work around would be MUCH appreciated. My system is up to date debian unstable and the latest flash plugin. Merry Christmas everyone, knarl.

I use firefox on both windows and linux. On linux, it crashes outright. (I use debian testing) On windows, I get an error message, which allows me to press "ignore" and continue playing. My diagnosis is that linux firefox fails to catch flash crashes. I don't know of anyone who has arimaa working well under linux.

I do not have it working well but I have it working ok, with opera under mandriva. (you can get opera via a free download.) There seems to be many fewer crashes with opera as opposed to firefox.

It is not firefox's fault. The flash player is buggy and segfaults the whole thing. I managed to run it on gdb and got a backtrace of the crash. Unfortunatle there is no where (or i was not smart enough to find it) were to report this at macromedia. -- Cheers

I was not impling that it was Firefox's falt it is clearly mostly a Flash/Omar issue. I was mearly pointing out that for some reason the crashes occure less often on Opera then on Firefox. The difference is dramatic in my experence; you can play almost every game with out a crash vs the 20 move limit in firefox. Given that we have at least three none trivial peices of software interacting in an error condition, fixing will not be an easy task. Using Opera is my work around for playing under linux, it is the best solution that I have found.
