Bot Timeout problem in Bot Ladder

bot_gnobot2006p1 and bot_shallowblue have both timed out on their turns when I was playing them. What should I do in the event that a bot fails to take it's turn?

Just insist, they don't time out systematically. If anything it'll be good practice for future bots.

What is insist? The problem is that, near the end of a game (both times a game I was a turn away from winning), they take their full time to move, and the timer just keeps going past the 7 or 12 minutes they have, and nothing happens.

Dorian probably means "persist". What you describe sounds like what happens when YOU lose your internet connection during an opponent's move (the hint is when you say the time keeps going past 7 minutes... this is not a normal player timeout). You can check to see whether you won or lost those games using the link "recent games". If you lost, then it is likely to be a problem at your end. Otherwise, if it is the bot timing out, just accept the win and play again.

Some of the bots have timeout problems in their code under certain circumstances. Just keep playing them until you beat them without a timeout. And perhaps lobby their developers and Omar to replace them in the ladder with "fixed" versions that will always submit a move within the time.

| BlackKnight said that future versions of Loc will resign when they see no good move, rather than timing out. However, I don't know whether he will enter a new version of Loc to the 2007 Computer Championship or not.

I think I've solved the timeout problem. If it looks like the bot is going to time out (when in reality it made it's move and I'm about to time out myself), I can close the window, refresh the gameroom, and reopen the board.
