What about setting up an IRC room for arimaa, instead of relying on web clients? We could use jabber too... We can use effnet, or whatever, or even perhaps the Great Old Ones of our beloved site could install a jabber server we can log into! ___ I created an #arimaa channel at undernet... Come in! ___ If you don't have any IRC programs, I recommend installing chatzilla at your browser. Then just log into our channel!

Thanks for this suggestion Nick. I installed the openFire Jabber server on arimaa.com. Are you familiar with how to configure it? Right now it has the default configuration. I've never used a Jabber chat client before and haven't tested the install; maybe it is already working.

I was able to create a janzert@arimaa.com account and communicate with my janzert@gmail.com account and then create an arimaa@conference.arimaa.com chatroom and joined it with both accounts as well. So the basic configuration is at least working. I haven't done anything with jabber in years, but I would guess that you probably just need to register the chatroom as a permanent room and make yourself the moderator and it's good to go. Janzert

I believe I logged into the room through a jabber80 account (I couldn't log in directly... It seems my firewall is picking on me, as usual... )

I downloaded the MirandaIM client and was able to connect to the arimaa.com Jabber server. Seems to be working. Does anyone know if there is a URL scheme like "jabber:" so that I can use it for the 'Chat' link in the gameroom.

I downloaded jabber and created new account: arimaa_master@njs.netlab.cz. But I don´t know how to connect to arimaa jabber server (?). I chose main menu -> join/create groupchat -> (and then I am not sure what to fill in Server and room?). Thx for an advice.

| The name of the conference room will be something like "arimaa@conference.arimaa.com" as janzert did, or "lobby@conference.arimaa.com", as Omar created the other day... We just need him to settle what will be th official name for the room! Later, if I find you online, we can try out to chat!...
