Recent games display by event

Omar, in the chat room just now Arimabuff made a great suggestion. It would be nice to be able to filter the Recent Games by event. There could perhaps be a drop-down box with events to choose from (or where one could type a string to match), and then the display would be restricted. This would come in very handy for me, for the Continuous Tournament, but I think others could make good use of this feature as well.

What a coincidence; I was also thinking of something similar. I was thinking of adding an "Event Games" link under the Games menu. Selecting this would bring up a page which listed all the events and the number of games in those events (kind of like a group by 'events' query). Then selecting an even would show the games in the event with links to the game page. I'll try to work on it this weekend.

Thanks, Omar. Not only will that be a convenient tool for running the Continuous Tournament, it will be cool to be able to review past championships, challenges, and postal tournaments from a unified place.

Wow! This is neat - well done. I did notice a few errors - you have two entries for 2007 AC - looks like you forgot a space on the one entry. Also, you call the Postal Tournament both PT and PC. I would use one or the other to be consistent. Unless there is an actual distinction.

Thanks for adding that Omar, it looks great! After a quick glance to admire the new feature, I noticed a couple of games that should be re-categorized: 1. In the "2007 AC" event, Chegorimaa has a game listed against BotBomb on February 25, 2007. However, I'm pretty sure he wasn't part of the human team. He's not listed on Wikipedia's Arimaa/Challenger history section either. 2. For the same event, one of Omar's games is in the "2007AC" category rather than "2007 AC"

Thanks for the feedback guys and pointing out the mislabeled games. I think I've fixed the labels now; except for the PT/PC ones. Relabeling those would require changing the programs to show those games. This is a great way to find the games from previous events. Wish we had thought of it earlier

Can we have similar listing for ongoing postal games? There will always be 2 or 3 categories - ordinary, auto and tournament. This will be especially helpful when postal tournament is in progress...
