Tabbing behavior in Firefox/suggestions

For a while now, I can't quite get the tabbing behavior ( Firefox - latest version) for the site to work the way I want it to. It appears that the behaviors seem to be all over the place. Sometimes a link will open in a new tab. Other times they open in a new window. The one that really bugs me though is when I click on my name to get to my player page - http://arimaa.com/arimaa/gameroom/playerpage.cgi?id=6048 it opens a new window. Then if I click any of the other links - it will open a new tab in the previous window that I had open! Perhaps, there should be a more prominent direct link to a player's page at the top of the screen. I don't how many people do this, but I am always drawn to clicking on my name on the right side under the players online column. Also maybe each player's page could be snazzed up with some more statistics, graphs, etc. None of these are complaints, but just trying to make the site a little more navigable would be helpful and work better with tabs.

I also use Firefox and am bemused when it opens a new tab in an old window, or opens a new window instead of a new tab. If someone figures out how to control this, I will be happy too!

I too find the tabbing behaviour in Firefox a pain. If there is an easy way to fix this, please do. If its a nightmare to fix, then I can live with it.

It used to be that when you used "target=_blank" it used to open up in a new window. But now FireFox defults to opening them in tabs. You can go under the options and change the default to open in a new window.

I don't know of any way for the site to tell if you have tabbed browsing on or not. Mixing javascript window open and target=_blank when tabbed browsing is turned on just doesn't work well. I'll probably have to change all the links to be one way or the other.
