I am headed to sleep. By the time I wake up, we will have crossed 30,000 recorded games. (Game 29976 just went into the database a few minutes ago).

We're also approaching a milestone of more practical significance: It used to be that I could look at the "Recent Games" link twice a day, morning and evening, and scan through the results of all games being played on the server. Now it is sometimes happening that more than 50 games have been played in a 12-hour span. Clearly, as the Arimaa community continues to grow, I'll have to give up more and more on knowing what is going on.

Now you understand God's headache when he looks at us messy and numerous creatures ... By the way, the epithete : "forum god" is quite a nice one ... you should even remove "forum" !

| Hmmm... are you hinting that I'm a bit too self-assured in the comments I post? I'm not sure why Omar has set the total number of posts to earn various titles so low. What's the fun in being a god if everyone else is too?

When we reached 20,000 games on 9/28/05, I predicted we would make it to 40,000 by the end of 2006. Now it seems I was too conservative. We got to 30,000 in only 211 days, leaving us 248 days to make it the rest of the way. We would easily make it to 40,000 within 2006 by continuing the pace of the last 7 months, but it seems more likely there will be additional growth in the community. Indeed, a bigger problem may be that continuing growth starts to regularly crash the server. On the other hand, the exponential growth seems to be slowing down. 3750 to 7500 took 266 days 7500 to 15000 took 286 days 15000 to 30000 took 341 days so if Omar is lucky it won't double again for a whole year.

I think bot vs bot games could be disturbing the statistics a bit.

| It used to be that I could leave the Forum for a couple of weeks and catch up one day in a few hours. But this time after being away for about 3 weeks I found that there are over 30 threads with new postings. Wow. As the community continues to grow I think there will soon be a time where I just won't be able to keep up. It's exciting and scary at the same time
