Seanick wins August06 PotM: a good sign for Arimaa

Congratulations, seanick, on winning the August 2006 Player of the Month contest. Looking back at past winners, I see that in 2005 PotM was won by three different people, none of whom had won before 2005. Also in 2006 (only 8 months), five different people have won, none of whom had won before 2006. This is a dramatic illustration of the expansion of Arimaa's popularity.
Furthermore, I note that in August my 38 points were only good enough for sixth place! Looking back at how 38 points would have placed ever since games against computers were excluded, we have:
4th May 2005
1st June 2005
1st July 2005
2nd August 2005
2nd September 2005
1st October 2005
1st November 2005
1st December 2005
2nd January 2006
1st February 2006
4th March 2006
2nd April 2006
3rd May 2006
2nd June 2006
4th July 2006

In other words, measuring by depth, August 2006 was the best month ever for Player of the Month. Let's hope September revives from a slow start (the first week of September was the slowest since February) and sets an even higher record!

Thanks Fritzlein! it is interesting indeed to see that statistic.
oddly enough, I won in August with only 59 points, yet in July, 69 points was only good enough for second place. even more strange is that in june I had 31 for third place and may I had 4th with 20 points. I half expected to see myself in 5th place in april but alas april must have been when I first started playing against humans because I only had 1 game (3 points) which was enough to land me 20th place 
I still think Nathan's win was a lot more impressive, though. 115 points is phenomenal.

Well, in August my 38 points was good for sixth place. In September I won with 43, but it turns out I could have won with 38, or even 29 points (one more than seanick). Yes, I do play more or less from one month to the next, but it seems more like the contest passes me up and then subsides.

Congrats! In my defense, though, I am in the middle of the final test pass for Vista.... can't play quite as much Arimaa. September did seem dead even on top of that though. so far October seems much more active.
