A suggestion to Mistre.

I believe that the Botbasher Hall of fame would be more practical if instead of giving the number of a game for any record instance you'd give a link to the actual game instead. As it is done at the bottom of the page.

Thanks, The plan is to have the game number as the link. I have done the first two, so you can check it out. Note: the very first game seems to be incorrect. The bot resigned after 5 moves and Sameer never reached goal.

Wow!!! That's a new one. I've never heard of, much less seen a bot resign before. I don't think we should count that as a record since the bot wasn't in any danger of losing anytime soon. Looks more like a malfunction to me.

It looks like I will need to check the validity of all of the records, as the 3rd one down the list was won by repetition and not by goal.

I am afraid that the shortest ways to beat a bot are often by repetion or because of some malfunction. As Captain Kirk would say "There's got to be a way!!" To eliminate them in the dadabase query, since the variable exist and can be seen whenever you check a list of games. In fact you should be able to produce both the list of games ending by a goal and the one of games ending by a freeze. Also the games that time out are not valid either.

I guess I assumed that the database query would be able to query by reason code in order to only select the "g" reason code, therefore only collecting the fastest goals. Since this first run did not do that, is it possible?

| Oh, my. I thought that I did do that in the first run. I certainly intended to do it, and I have a distinct memory of having "g" as a filter for termination. But obviously I messed it up. I will look at my query tonight and try again. Did this only happen for games where the bot played Silver and the result was goal? In some of the other queries I see the termination code in the output that I posted, so hopefully those are correct.

| Thanks for checking the validity of all the records. I spot-checked, but obviously not enough.

| Yes. I just checked all of the bot playing gold games and they are all correct.

| Don't count that game. At the time, Sameer was helping me debug the gameroom.

The game 32792 by doriangaray links to game 249 you can see it at the bottom of the window just by passing the pointer over it (Assuming you're using IE6). That mistake is repeated several times throughout the page maybe it's a work in progress glitch. I just thought I'd let you know.

Yes, I found those errors. I think I have fixed them all, let me know if you see anything else. The page is about done now with all of the current information that I have. I still need to get the correct fastest goals for bot playing silver for the games that I listed as xxxxx for the name. Also, the handicap records are incomplete, but I just listed all of the ones that were on the page. If anyone wants to point out specific handicap games in this thread, please do so. Notice that on the bottom, I deleted most of the records because they were absorbed into the various tables. However, there was one that didn't fit and it was records which used a combination of handicaps, immobilization, and no-capture. If you know of other such games, please let me know and I will list them there.

| I listed the (hopefully now correct) records in the other thread: http://arimaa.com/arimaa/forum/cgi/YaBB.cgi?board=talk;action=display;nu m=1147634070;start=30#30 Quote:Also, the handicap records are incomplete, but I just listed all of the ones that were on the page. | Also from the other thread there is a handicap game announcement that didn't get listed: on Oct 1st, 2007, 7:47pm, 722caasi wrote:Game 59885: Handicap HH as silver, win in 18. (really weird ending though). |
| In addition to that HH handicap, one could list my handicap wins against Bomb2005CC, game 47739 as silver giving a horse, and game 48023 as gold giving a camel. But now that I think about it, PMertens may have given bigger handicaps. Or maybe he only did so against the faster bots due to his innate impatience? You are doing a fantastic job, mistre. Thanks for taking on this task!
