I added a few terms to the Arimaa Glossary on wikibooks. http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Arimaa/Glossary It is amazing how many different concepts there are in Arimaa now. I tend to forget about some of them at times The terms I added are: False Protection, Mutual Protection, Elimination, Fence, Flip, Invade, Overload, Overwhelm, Replacement, Swarm and Cram. Also made a note on the Draw term that draws are no long possible.

Is there a consensus on whether a flip must be "180 degrees"? How about we call any pull and push combination involving the same pieces in one move a "swing" and let "flip" denote the abovementioned special case of it?

How about 'Swing' means moving opponents weaker piece 90 degrees clockwise and 'Counter Swing' means moving the weaker piece 90 degrees counter clockwise.

How about a Birdie for a goal in one, an Eagle for a goal in two (much harder to find than a birdie), an Albatross for a goal in three and a Condor for a goal in four ( a definite exploit in Arimaa)?

Continuing the animal theme, how about if a mistake that allows goal in one is a skunk, a mistake that allows goal in two is a squirrel, and a mistake that allows goal in three is a mole?

| Neither did I until PMertens taught me. Incidentally, in my book, I am going to differentiate between a pin and a frame. If an elephant is pinned to a framed horse, then it will be an "elephant pin", whereas if a rabbit is pinned to a framed horse, i.e if the horse is going to die next turn, (see game 71143, move 22s), then I'm going to call it a "horse frame". There is so much difference between a tactical means of winning material and a strategic means of tying up the opposing elephant that I think it needs a different name.

| Something that looks like a forced goal but isn't. Quite subjective I admit.

| And how about the elephant that is safeguarding a trap because the opponent's elephant is holding a camel hostage?

"Instatrade" for when pieces of both sides are trapped on the same move.

| We could say the defensive elephant is "tethered" to the trap.

| Do you mean on one player's move only? If that is the case - this is very rare. It did happen in one of my recent games with arimaa_master where he gave up a framed rabbit and captured one of my rabbits in the same move. Or did you mean over the course of 1 move for each player?
