Commented games recommended for newbies?

I am new to the wonderful world of Arimaa and would love to re-play and understand games played by real good players for learning more about this game. Are there any sessions thoroughly commented, so the moves are more comprehensible? To be honest, sometimes I just don`t understand, why the players do, what they do, instead of something else, obvious to me (but as I said, I am a newbie ... ) Thanks for any hints!

Wow! This is great, especially together with the moves of the game printed plus the comments in the comment section of the game by Fritzlein and others. It is exactly what I was looking for: A step-by-step analysis plus discussion of a great session. Thanks! To re-play this with my DIY board will take hours - but will be woth the effort, I suppose.

It may be a lot easier to use the plan game: (just give it the game number) http://arimaa.com/arimaa/games/planGame.cgi but if you want to make it harder on you, that's your choice.

You mean, instead of playing it "live"? I like to move the pieces around, try other possibilities or think by myself first, trying some moves, then check, what happened in the game and so on ... BTW, I do as much as possible without sitting in front of a computer screen. But the tool you suggested is nonetheless great!

| It's a lot harder to study a game than it is to play a game, but if you want to get good quickly, then your ratio of studying to playing should be high. On the other hand, it isn't clear whether you should be studying game commentary or the Arimaa Wikibook, or maybe just replaying your own games to understand your own mistakes. After you have studied Arimaa for a bit, I would be interested to hear whether you think these sources of information are useful to a beginner or can only be understood by intermediate players. Feedback from players such as yourself could help the Arimaa community develop better learning aids over time, and make it easier for future beginners to get up to speed. We would like to encourage everyone who is interested in our awesome game.

I will see, what happens. I think of just doing all of it - playing and studying, replaying and practicing and so on. Sure I will let you know about my learning curve and how your sources helped me or not - it would probably be great to have a well-written tutorial for beginners with an introduction into the strategies - if the wikibook is not exactly that. Thanks for your support!
