snakes and ladders, haha, maybe because its pure luck? i heard a university was building a bot to play starcraft with mild success, i think it used a bunch of dispersed flying units because humans can't micromanage nearly as good has computers, thanks for reminding me, it was very interesting and i might go look it up again. And i'm glad arimaa is high on there, means more people are likely to come

Being mentioned in xkcd looks to me like something to be proud of Omar, besides the nice publicity!

Aamir really flipped out when he saw that, cause he follows xkcd Wow, on Jan 12 2012 there were 160 accounts created and 576 games played. That's definitely a record. What's amazing is that it's just a mention in the image and not even a direct link to the Arimaa site, so people have to google what Arimaa is, read about it and then come to the site, find their way to the gameroom and register. xkcd must have a huge following.

| Unfortunately we didn't have any designated commentator yet, so the listed games don't say "with live commentary" on the main game room page, so none of the newcomers know that commentary will be given.

The comic goes away from the front page in 30 minutes, I would suspect there won't be much of an increase in people...
