What Will Happen When the Challenge is Over?

In the case of a bot winning the challenge before 2020 will we continue to have a yearly human-bot challenge? I think we should to see if humans can regain lost ground, especially since interest in improving engines will probably decrease significantly, while human interest will hopefully remain strong! We should also make sure that the bots really deserve their crown. I think that if a bot wins the challenge we should continue to create new challenges for bots such as winning postal matches versus humans or defeating "The Mob". In the case of a bot NOT winning the challenge. What will happen? Will the challenge continue without prize money? @omar: Is there a chance that you will extend the challenge perhaps with a lesser prize?

Surely the answer to either question will depend on where Omar is at in his life personally and professionally. Also (if it were me answering the questions), it would depend on how much the Arimaa community has grown and how much momentum there is for continued play and future (or by then continued?) commercial success. If the Arimaa community is ten times bigger by then, from what stroke of fortunate publicity, then that vastly raises the odds of continued challenge matches. Of course, my forward horizon is pretty small. You can tell by the fact that I always pledge my $1000 to the Arimaa Challenge one year at a time. I'm always afraid that two years from now I might not even be playing Arimaa any more, and I'm not going to put up prizes for a game I don't play.
