Title: Move 8 Post by arimaa_master on Jul 19th, 2007, 3:57am Ok now: I am waiting answer something like: 8w Dd2e Me3e Ed5n Ha4e explanation of 8w: Dd2 Me3e - retreat threatened camel + dog eventually Ed5n - threaten to flip our camel Ha4e - finally avoid immediate EH attack to c6 so what to play for us now? My first thoughts are: I) 8b rb7w cc7w md7w ed3n - keeping our E in center to threaten camel pull II) 8b rb7w cc7w md7w ed3s - keeping our E in second line to threaten rabbit pull ====== plus both possibilities prevents to chessandgo's horse to pull the rabbit (by going to a5) - if not willing to be hostages :) |

Title: Re: Move 8 Post by mdk on Jul 19th, 2007, 11:36am Chessandgo has already made his move! 8w: Dd2e Me3n Me4w Md4w |

Title: Re: Move 8 Post by mdk on Jul 19th, 2007, 12:10pm My first inclination was 8b ed3n Mc4n ed4w xxxx This however seems easily responded to by 9w Mc5w Mb5s Db3s Mb4s I therefore would currently suggest 8b ed3n Mc4s ed4w ec4w. (edit) Actually 8b ed3n Mc4n ed4w ec4w might very well be better. |

Title: Re: Move 8 Post by UruramTururam on Jul 20th, 2007, 2:29am An aggressor, huh? Instead of retreating he prepares an EM attack... I'd consider 8b md7s ce7e ed3e hg6s with a threat of our EH attack on our left wing. |

Title: Re: Move 8 Post by 99of9 on Jul 20th, 2007, 7:23pm Careful arimaa_master! Fritz and I chose different moves from mdk... The question is, do we want Mc4n or Mc4s? What are the advantages of either? |

Title: Re: Move 8 Post by jdb on Jul 20th, 2007, 9:00pm Looking at the game so far, we have devoted a fair amount of effort to keeping our camel in the centre. Gold's camel is currently out of the centre. Is there a way to take advantage of that? What happens if Silver plays for an attack on the f3 trap? 8b ed3n hg6s hg5s hg4e |

Title: Re: Move 8 Post by mdk on Jul 21st, 2007, 12:02am regarding jdb's suggestion how would you respond to something like 9w Ed5n Ha4n Ha5n Ha6n? and what about 9w Ed5w Mc4w Mb4n Ha4n? or how about some other moves that threaten swarming? There may very well be better moves than these for chessandgo to play and perfectly good responses to all these moves but i just wanted to throw these possible responses out there for consideration. |

Ouch, sorry, I must be sleepy for sure :) So I clearly prefer step Mc4n in this move coz by this we still have future threat to taking hostage HIS camel. |

Title: Re: Move 8 Post by RonWeasley on Jul 22nd, 2007, 3:09pm After 8b ed3n Mc4n ed4w ec4w, how do we respond to 9w Ed5n Mc5n Ra2n Ha4n? I can't seem to get the M hostage or other advantage. All I get is gold control of c6. Help? |

Title: Re: Move 8 Post by RonWeasley on Jul 23rd, 2007, 11:36am Thanx! I like that reply. I gives either a hostage or frame. This means gold has to back out the camel, probably with 9w Ed5n Mc5e Md5s Md4s. Silver can then pull the dog. I looked at flipping the dog, but the silver camel needs the e close by. |

Title: Re: Move 8 Post by The_Jeh on Jul 24th, 2007, 11:41am One of the options, md7s ce7e ed3e hg6s is invalid because there is a piece on f7. Do you mean md7s ce7w ed3e hg6s, UruramTururam? |

Title: Re: Move 8 Post by RonWeasley on Jul 24th, 2007, 12:40pm Oops! (*) Ow. Clearly I didn't check that one carefully. It doesn't seem to be a popular move, but if anyone strongly wants to see that move properly represented, please say so here and we can start the election over tomorrow. * Sound of Snape smacking me in the back of my head with a book. |

I have a similar question. After 8b ed3n Mc4n ed4w ec4w, how do we respond to 9w Ra2n Mc5w Ed5w Ha4n? Pushing the camel north still worries me. I don't think we need to target his camel at all costs, he has other pieces exposed at the moment. |

Title: Re: Move 8 Post by RonWeasley on Jul 25th, 2007, 3:29pm We had 8 votes by the morning. 10 votes by the afternoon. Clearly, some of the mob is either not interested or just not voting. What an unruly mob. Mob rule pushes the M to c5. Let's hope we aren't facilitating a EMH attack. |
