Title: bot_speedy update Post by fotland on Mar 1st, 2005, 10:45am I'm working on Arimaa again. For this version I rewrote the static trap threat evaluation, and fixed some bugs in the trap threat detection. I'm working off the bad moves from Paul's postal game. The value of a hostage is lower when the hostage situation doesn't lead to having the strongest free piece on the rest of the board. The value of a frame is higher. There is a learning opening book, so the opening setup is no longer random. Learning doesn't work yet for on-line games that it loses, since the server doesn't send me the losing move and position. The book includes all games played on-line up to last month. |

Title: Re: bot_speedy update Post by fotland on Mar 3rd, 2005, 1:34am New lightning. Fixed elephant mobility bugs from Fritz's game. It's making lots of strange moves that I can't reproduce in the development environment. I got the new scripts, so it can play gold now. |

Title: Re: bot_speedy update Post by Fritzlein on Mar 9th, 2005, 10:40pm Is lightning learning from its games at present? How extensive is the learning, given that positions diverge so quickly from the opening? |

Title: Re: bot_speedy update Post by fotland on Mar 10th, 2005, 2:05am No. book learning isn't turned on for the on-line bot, only the windows application. The only benefit to book learning in arimaa is to avoid losing two games to the same sequence of moves. Now I don't have to randomize the openings, so I can always start with a good one. |

Title: Re: bot_speedy update Post by fotland on Mar 10th, 2005, 12:12pm Lightning now has book learning turned on. Some stats from the book. It's loaded with all games played on the server. 8848 positions were seen more than once 2381 positions seen more than once after move 2 1130 positions seen more than five times Positions are checked after each step. |
