Title: Bug in 2005 Bomb Post by Fritzlein on Jun 15th, 2005, 8:43pm I was playing on my home version of Bomb, trying to beat it with a M+D handicap, and the following position arose: Rc2 Cf2 Rh2 Db3 Rg3 Ra5 Rd5 Rf5 Re6 Ec7 rh3 cg5 cb6 hc6 ed6 db7 rf7 ra8 Bomb was on move playing Silver. Bomb started spittting out "genqmove error 9", although it did then make a reasonable move. (before losing shortly thereafter... :-)) I thought I would post this here in case anyone else finds the position interesting. |

I never had trouble with the free version having errors, but I wonder if there isn't a pattern that Bomb is more likely to encounter errors in a position it is nearly losing, or especially when it is nearer immobilization. I seldom win by immobilization, so I'm not sure. As I recall, I gave the weak version a handicap of elephant plus camel and won (by goal) before I paid for the full version. I was feeling like hot stuff, but then my pride was brought low as I lost my first eight games in a row against the full version. :-/ |

Heh, the camel handicap has been done, so there's no point unless I top it, right? Now that I have done M+ D at home, I may try to replicate the feat on line, but also I'm trying to minimize somewhat the number of hours I keep our phone line tied up. |

Title: Re: Bug in 2005 Bomb Post by fotland on Jul 1st, 2005, 3:53pm The message indicates that the quiescence search move generator generated an illegal move. The illegal move is ignored, so this is a minor bug. |
