Title: Funny Test Game Post by lightvector on Apr 30th, 2008, 11:52pm Just a funny game for anyone interested. I was testing sharp offline against itself at 5 ply + quiescence, and I encountered quite a game where, in a messy tactical fight, one side blockaded the other's elephant on a trap square, and a move later, proceeded to capture it! It reminds me of the WC game, except the position was absurdly more messy in this game. A big chunk of the blockade was actually frozen pieces, held by the 'm'. Even so, the elephant-less side was still able to severely complicate (thanks to a goal threat), and probably could have won too, if it had been more aggressive about advancing additional rabbits. The horizon effect is also quite prominent: 5 ply + quiescence really isn't much depth at all. Unfortunately, I was not logging the game, so I was only able to save the last portion of the game, as the rest of it overflowed the console window. Very sad. For those interested in a laugh at the mess that sharp can make against itself at low plies, the portion I managed to save is below. It starts a few moves after the elephant blockade and capture, which occurred at c6. You can see some remnants of the blockade. Since then, the m and the h have moved south to take over the c3 trap. Be aware that the board is vertically flipped compared to normal. Code:
