Does anyone else want to be a reporter for the Open Classic? I'll be covering most of the games to give Fritzlein a break this year, and the more help we have the better!

You don't have to analyze games by chessandgo or Fritzlein -- you can cover whichever games you're comfortable with. Just one or two games a week would be a great help! 8)

Thanks Janzert, welcome to the reporting team ;D I've added your commentary to the page.

If you want to report on 1 or 2 games each round that would be a big help. And if you want to cover another game this round, either from Saturday or Sunday, just post your intended game in this forum. That will avoid the possibility of 2 people covering the same game. Any game will be fine with these 3 exceptions:

Fritzlein vs woh (Fritzlein will cover this game)
Omar vs Sana (by Omar)
camelback vs Emaad (by Omar)
I'll be covering the other 4, but I'm more than happy to have some assistance ;)

Thanks, Janzert. That game had been assigned to me, but I appreciate your stepping up to bat. My preference would be to take a break from the commentary. Do you want to do the commentary on my game against woh as well? If not, I think I can handle one game per round. :P

Well I managed to do that one since I was the only spectator around that I saw and it was a fairly short and easy to understand game.

I don't think I'd want to try and take on one of your games.

By the way, I vote we have a commentary page for each round, with the post-round standings on that page.

I was thinking of doing something similar to that. Maybe the full crosstables on the main page and then just the Name, Wins and Strength of Schedule for each round's page. I'd like to sort the page for each round by number of wins at the end of the round, in descending order. But that could make it confusing for readers because I'd now have to renumber everyone from 1-18 each round. Hence, just the 3 columns for every page other than the main page which lists players 1-18 by pre-tournament rating. Hopefully that makes sense.

I'll report on any games that are played on Wednesday or Thursday this week, including my game against Fritzlein. Unfortunately, most of the games will probably be played on the weekend and I won't be back until Monday night. So if anyone wants to volunteer to cover a few games that would be great!

Report on your own game for sure. Beyond that maybe we could have a chaotic system where anyone who wants to write commentary on a game posts in this thread that they will do it (so that two people don't do a game simultaneously) and we just see whether all the games get covered.
