Title: Omar, please read right away Post by fotland on Dec 27th, 2004, 10:54am Omar, I haven't received any information on how to port bomb for the computer tournament. The other participants have already ported. I've sent you several e-mails. There must be some e-mail malfunction between us. Please send me the information again, and call me at 408 985 1236 to verify that I got it. Thanks, David |

Title: Re: Omar, please read right away Post by omar on Dec 27th, 2004, 4:44pm Seems like my emails are not getting through to you. They are not bouncing back either. Your emails are getting to me. Might just be a mail filter or something that is blocking my emails. If you have another address that I can write to you on, please email it to me. Omar |

Title: Re: Omar, please read right away Post by fotland on Dec 27th, 2004, 6:30pm Your e-mail today come through ok, but I never saw last week's e-mail. I get a lot of spam, and this isn't the first time e-mail has been lost, but it seems rare. The bomb port is finished, and it seems to work ok. Your server is quite a bit slower than the 1.6 GHz Pentium M I'm using for speedy, or perhaps it's just that GCC is not as good a compiler as Microsoft's. I'm seeing about 2/3 the nodes/second on your server. Bomb won't be much stronger than speedy. Sometimes Bomb will look one step deeper than speedy. |

Title: Re: Omar, please read right away Post by omar on Dec 29th, 2004, 11:53pm The server hardware is: http://arimaa.com/arimaa/challenge/2005/hardware.html The clock speed if faster but the CPU is a P4. Maybe a Pentium M is much faster than a P4. I guess having 2 processors won't make much of a difference. |

Title: Re: Omar, please read right away Post by jdb on Dec 30th, 2004, 8:21am Clueless runs on an Athlon XP 2800. It is getting roughly the same speed on the server, although it is in Java. Also a comment for next year. Personally, I think a 64 bit single processor would be a more effective use of the $1000, than a dual 32 bit processor setup. But that's just my opinion. |
