Title: cannot use PayPal Post by doublep on Jan 19th, 2009, 2:09pm I cannot use PayPal, because it doesn't work in this wonderful country (you can test --- go to there site and observe there is no Belarus in country/region selection). Can I still have a bot registered if I agree to forfeit any prize money it might win? |

Title: Re: cannot use PayPal Post by Fritzlein on Jan 19th, 2009, 2:54pm How good is your bot this year? I might take a gamble and pay your entry fee in exchange for your winnings. ;) |

Title: Re: cannot use PayPal Post by doublep on Jan 20th, 2009, 9:12am Frankly, it doesn't even play yet, although pretty close to that. I lost intereset for some years and Aami-ra died uncopied somewhere on an old HDD. So, the new bot (Badger) is a start from scratch. However, I'm fairly certain I can write a bot that manages to score at least one win in the championship. |

Title: Re: cannot use PayPal Post by Fritzlein on Jan 20th, 2009, 12:26pm Badger doesn't even play yet? But the registration deadline is only 11 days away! This looks like a poor gamble to me, but on the other hand, I'd love to see another entry, so here's a deal: if you can get Badger to beat Arimaazilla by January 31, I'll pay your entry fee in exchange for your winnings. Is that fair? P.S. I know aaaa isn't interested, but I'll make the same offer to bot_quad. ;) |

Title: Re: cannot use PayPal Post by doublep on Jan 20th, 2009, 1:34pm You underestimate my coding skills ;) Accepted, unless Omar shows up and offers something else, ok? |

Title: Re: cannot use PayPal Post by Fritzlein on Jan 20th, 2009, 3:49pm I am prepared to stand in awe of your skills. I certainly understand if Omar (or anyone else) beats my offer. :) |

Title: Re: cannot use PayPal Post by 99of9 on Jan 20th, 2009, 4:00pm I find the direction this thread has taken very amusing. And it may well be a good outcome for this year. However, in the longer term, it would be a serious problem if over half of the world were excluded from direct participation in the arimaa challenge due to a corporate legality. |

Title: Re: cannot use PayPal Post by doublep on Jan 21st, 2009, 9:13am From the size of registration drop down I gathered that in most countries it is possible to use PayPal, so it is hardly half of the world. Still, yes, it would be nice if there were alternatives. |

Title: Re: cannot use PayPal Post by doublep on Dec 15th, 2009, 3:24pm So, the same is true this year as well. Anyone willing to pay for Badger on the same terms as the last time? |

Title: Re: cannot use PayPal Post by Fritzlein on Dec 15th, 2009, 4:25pm For sure. Last time I invested $10 to get $30 for Badger's three victories. This time the entry fee is higher ($20) and the prize pool is smaller (~$3 per win), but the entry fee is refunded as long as you upload your bot and don't break the rules. That seems like a pretty good bet to me. I have sent Badger's $20 entry fee to Omar by PayPal. Go Badger! |

My faith in you has paid off again, doublep. $20 entry fee invested for a $3.04 net profit. Thanks for following through on your commitment! |
