This thread is for World Championship players to post game time rescheduling notices, resumption of play after a forfeit and appeals to game timeout results. Please do not use this thread for discussion on any topic.

If posting a rescheduled game please remember that both players must post. The new time slot must be given and it must be posted 24 hours or more before the new time.

[EDIT: Please include the desired time slot number as given on the time preference setting page (http://arimaa.com/arimaa/events/selectTimes.cgi?e=2014wc). Including the actual time will also help as a confirmation that everyone is agreeing on the same thing, but the time slot is the primary basis for the official time.]

Sorry, the rules are clear and firm that the forfeit has to stand. If you post here that you want to continue participating in future rounds then you will continue to be scheduled at least.

[Edit: Given the language barrier; I'm going to accept the above as indication of wanting to continue in the tournament.]

Hello. I have missed my second game, completely because of my own fault. I'm very sorry about that. If it is still possible, I would like to continue participating in the championship.

Janzert, I am surprised that you wouldn't let fixpoint in with two forfeits for the two missed rounds.  That was absolutely my intent when I wrote the rules for 2013.  The rules for 2014 left me thinking that your intent was the same that mine had been, i.e. a player merely needs to give notice before the next round _that is paired_ not the next round _only after the round of the forfeit_.

I understand that there is a technical issue, and that the rule is open to multiple interpretations so that your interpretation rules.  However, for next year I strongly recommend clarifying the rule in favor of allowing a player to continue.  Allowing fixpoint to play rounds 4, 5, and 6 starting with a record of 0-3 is what I believe very strongly is what should happen here.

My understanding had been and intent when editing was that the player is permanently out after the first deadline. The motivation isn't because I don't want to see the player back but because I'm not at all sure that the server and tournament system can correctly handle the situation. In the chatroom discussion last night aaaa, who wrote the pairing program, also expressed uncertainty that it would work correctly. So I'm going to stick with the current ruling this year. If the technical issues can be resolved, I would be quite happy to see it changed next year.

If anyone has further discussion please open a new thread in order to keep this one clear for tournament notices.

Naveed contacted my via the gameroom message system shortly after his forfeit asking to resume play in the tournament. I tried to message him back but am unsure if my message made it through. After deliberation I'm going to accept his request to rejoin the tournament.

I want to make an appeal for my game against rabbits: Apparently I timed out, but the client showed that I had 37 seconds left. I sent Janzert a screenshot of the game window which showed this crazy timeout.

After reviewing the game event log and Omar checking the internal server logs no problem or anything unusual was found.

My current theory on what happened is a temporary network glitch caused the last gold move sent to silver to be delayed. Unfortunately this can not be grounds to vacate the game result.

Given the above, unless new information is found the result will stand.

I feel that while related to the tournament, that decision is beyond the purview of the tournament.

As a purely personal opinion I think it should be handled the same as any other connection related timeout.
