Title: Book recommendation: "Society of Mind"
Post by qswanger on Feb 18th, 2011, 9:54am
I don't know to what extent this is general knowledge, but I just recently became aware of an older, seminal work in the field of AI (amongst others) called "Society of Mind". I researched it a bit before finally ordering it from Amazon. I'm reading through it now and I'm simply blown away. Here's the Wikipedia entry to get you started if you'd be at all interested: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Society_of_Mind.
Has anyone else read or heard of this? And what do you think, especially regarding it's applicability to the future of AI programming and the Arimaa Challenge?

Wow! I'm just reading the review (http://web.media.mit.edu/~push/ExaminingSOM.html) and this is AMAZING!

Just reading it is giving me ideas for language acquisiton and machine translation.

It also reminded me of this thread (http://arimaa.com/arimaa/forum/cgi/YaBB.cgi?board=devTalk;action=display;num=1274755016). Toby1kenobi, you might want to get in on this!
