Title: Are friends eccentric Post by megajester on Mar 22nd, 2011, 6:49am I've recently developed an interest in unusual tie knots. Let's see you top that! (http://www.wonderhowto.com/how-to-tie-atlantic-tie-0126207/) |

Title: Re: Are friends eccentric Post by The_Jeh on Mar 22nd, 2011, 7:37am You mean there's another knot besides the Windsor?! |

Title: Re: Are friends eccentric Post by UruramTururam on Mar 22nd, 2011, 9:36am Hmm, I don't know them whether I'm normal since I can make two tie knots: single (or triangle) and double (or trapeze)... Maybe I'm semi-normal. |
||
Title: Re: Are friends eccentric Post by megajester on Mar 22nd, 2011, 10:40am No, no I think you're still normal... When I say I'd like to see you top that I mean I'm probably the most eccentric person on this forum... 8) |

Title: Re: Are friends eccentric Post by UruramTururam on Mar 22nd, 2011, 1:43pm As for eccentric people it reminds me the rule: "You are not a real audiophile if the cables of your HIFI system are of less total worth than the jewelery of your wife." ;) And regarding this knot it's interesting but I can't make it use only the description... A scheme of the steps is welcome! |

Title: Re: Are friends eccentric Post by UruramTururam on Mar 23rd, 2011, 10:40am First try: http://img850.imageshack.us/img850/6100/krawat.jpg I must practice more, I guess. |

Title: Re: Are friends eccentric Post by megajester on Mar 23rd, 2011, 10:57am It won't let me see it without logging in. Can you give me a webpage? |
||
Title: Re: Are friends eccentric Post by UruramTururam on Mar 23rd, 2011, 11:03am Hmm, it should not ask for login... I haven't one there. Try this: http://img842.imageshack.us/f/krawat.jpg/ |

Title: Re: Are friends eccentric Post by megajester on Mar 23rd, 2011, 11:53am Hey, that's quite good! You might want to try feeding the narrow blade around to tighten the knot a teeny weeny bit more, but that's great. If you're unhappy with it because it's not symmetrical, you should know the Atlantic's not a symmetrical knot, it can't be. Have you tried the other one? |

It's so horrible the picture is a malware, I'm talking about the type of knot not specifically that, I mean, seriously... (Just my opinion, Windsor for me all the way). |

Like collecting coins depicting platypuses perhaps? ;D Yuck, those malicious Australians just released one that has only one version - it's available only in 1oz of platinum. A big hole in my collection... |

Title: Re: Are friends eccentric Post by megajester on Mar 24th, 2011, 2:43am :o OK ok I clearly have some competition :) Platypus coins! Oh wow I've got to see them... |

Title: Re: Are friends eccentric Post by UruramTururam on Mar 24th, 2011, 3:21am I plan to make a page about it soon(TM) I guess there is no such place with comprehensive info on that topic so far. I'll post here a note when I finally do that. Meanwhile: http://blog.numismaticnews.net/ideas/content/binary/aust%20dinkum.jpg |

Title: Re: Are friends eccentric Post by UruramTururam on Apr 29th, 2011, 2:28am O-kay! I have finally established my page. Taking into acount its topic, and the fact that so far it's in Polish only (yet I think about making an English version too) I guess it fills out one of the smallest niches in the web. Here it is: http://dziobaki.blogspot.com First entries are in, and I'll add next ones there soon. |

Title: Re: Are friends eccentric Post by UruramTururam on Apr 29th, 2011, 5:58am Google translate makes funny mistakes when translates from Polish. It has problems with our grammar. For example: Coins on which platypuses appear =-> coins, which appears in the platypus ;D Coin is minted using a standard die set =-> This beats a coin struck in standard :D All the obverses have the royal effigy by R. Maklouf =-> The obverse features an image of all the versions made by Royal R. Maklouf :o |
