Recently I was contacted by someone in the boardgaming community and invited to a private beta to a brand new website for discovering new games called boardgaming.com. I checked it out and was very impressed by what I saw.

The site is very well layed out and visually pleasing. For a past user of boardgamegeek, it was like a breath of fresh air. In my opinion, BGG has become overly complex to use and there is too much going on visually on every screen.

Boardgaming.com also has a meta-game system where you can earn experience and levels in five categories for completing certain tasks. It also has a follow feature, so you can follow other gamers that you are interested in. You can rate games, review games, rate reviews, list games owned (shown graphically on your profile), offer tips and strategies, etc. The site only has about 230 games listed so far, but they will continue to add new ones. I will be definitely be lobbying for them to add Arimaa :D

Yep, lobbying for Arimaa there is a good idea. Another group of people to get hooked. ;D

Wow, that sounds interesting Mistre. I'm a big fan of BGG, and I believe that it hasn't scaled-up all that elegantly since it was first conceived. Not their fault, I think. Who'da thunk that it would have gotten so popular, so fast?

By the way I think that we, Arimaaers, should form a kind of lobby there. Starting from "following" each other could be a good beginning.

My nick there "urtur", full version "Ururam Tururam". Post yours here and I'll follow.

Why is "LUCK" in the info section? Arimaa is a perfect-information determanistic game.

There's only a placeholder for the luck factor which should - of course - be 0 in the case of Arimaa.

There are people there who start to get interested in Arimaa. :)

Just an update, they've re-opened signups so if you want to join, contact mistre for an invite (I don't want to steal his invites, he was first to post here after all :) ).

I definitely encourage at least a few people joining in and posting reviews and tips for Arimaa. I've only played the game for a couple of weeks, so I haven't felt qualified to write a review, yet.
