Title: Ouch -- Take back bug (doesn't work) Post by chess123mate on Oct 11th, 2008, 4:45pm Against bots, it doesn't work. If they accept it, their next move should be ignored and the game returned to the previous state. Against humans, it doesn't work. It freezes the game and forces both to exit. I hope this can be fixed. Thanks, chess123mate |

Title: Re: Ouch -- Take back bug (doesn't work) Post by Fritzlein on Oct 11th, 2008, 6:14pm Takebacks used to be allowed in all games, but the community consensus was that they were an annoyance in serious games. If I am not mistaken, the policy now is that they are allowed only in games that are both unrated and untimed (i.e. 0/0/0/0/0 time control). Whatever the policy is, it would be good if the takeback button were disabled in all situations where it won't be allowed anyway, so as not to give a false impression that it might work. |

Title: Re: Ouch -- Take back bug (doesn't work) Post by chess123mate on Oct 11th, 2008, 6:22pm Here is my thought: 1. If rated (timed or not), what if you make an obvious blunder? You press Send then immediately realize how dumb your move is. If your opponent is friendly, perhaps they will understand and accept. Otherwise, you can always press "don't allow take back". Perhaps a time penalty could be implemented to compensate. 2. If unrated (timed or untimed), see #1. There could be option for each player "do not allow take-backs" or something like that, to prevent a player from annoying an opponent. Just a thought. However, if they are disabled, it'd be nice if they didn't "crash" games. The game I was playing, it was literally my turn on my opponent's screen and his turn on mine. |
