Hi, I'm new to this game. It's great fun!

I've been playing the bot ladder and I seem to be stuck at shallowblue, even though I can beat it consistently. How does advancement up the ladder work?

To move up the ladder you have to win RATED games.

Maybe you didn't notice but all your games against Shallowblue are unrated.

Arimabuff is right. In the navigation bar on the left-hand side of the game room, choose "Settings", then "Unrated Mode", and make sure unrated mode is off, in order to advance on the bot ladder.

Um, it's not working. I am keeping Unrated Mode OFF, and I just played a game against Shallowblue, but it was not counted as rated.

Hmm, I notice that ShallowBlue hasn't played rated against anybody for two days. Maybe it's a bug in ShallowBlue. The Forum is a good place to ask for advice and raise concerns, but only Omar can fix the server, so when there is a bug the place to go is

This will send an e-mail to Omar, and he checks e-mail more often than he checks the Forum.

In the mean time you can skip to the next bot if you want by going to Players->Top Rated Bots in the gameroom menu. Then in the screen that opens go to Bots Available for Play and starting the bot you want to play. That will cause the bot to start a game in the gameroom you can then join.

Aha, I see you finally got a rated game against ShallowBlue. Apparently the bug is fixed now. Best of luck the rest of the way up the ladder!

Yup, Omar fixed it. (Thanks!) It was just a setting that had been changed.

When I was trying to fix the bug Toby reported with open games appearing to be rated when they really were not, I changed ShallowBule's config to create unrated games. After fixing that bug I forgot to set ShallowBlue back to rated mode. Thanks for reporting this WFTomba.
