For a long time I have not gotten the client sound effects, even when I select the option to turn them on. This has occasionally contributed to me running out of time, since I didn't hear the warning noises. Any ideas on how I could fix this?

Are you on a Windows or a Linux box (or something else)? I'm running Linux and I have similar problems and no solution to offer. Some kind of problem between Java, my browser and the Linux sound system.

I'm on Windows, using Firefox. But I just tried it with Opera and I got the sound effects! I thought I had tried that before and it hadn't worked.

The client is using SoundManager2 for playing sounds. It includes a small, invisible Flash stub to play sounds.

If your browser can play sounds on this page, then the sounds should work in the client. If not, you might need to install or upgrade Flash for your browser.
