Title: Commented games Post by chessandgo on Apr 27th, 2006, 8:37pm Hi ! studying strong players' commented games is usually a very usefull mean of improving ; however I have only found one thouroughly commented game, namely the postal 2005 Fritz - Omar pointed at by the wiki. Are there any others ? Do some people have comments hidden somewhere ? Thanks a lot to Omar and Karl for their extensive analysis ... good comments make watching a game much more easier and enjoyable ... Jean |

Title: Re: Commented games Post by Fritzlein on Apr 27th, 2006, 9:16pm I don't know of any other commented games. I wish there were some commentaries by people other than me, because I know that my views on Arimaa strategy are far from universally accepted. And even where there isn't direct disagreement, it is interesting to hear different ways of approaching the same position. There are lots of different ways to arrive at a good move, I'm sure. On the other hand, from having written commentary on just this one game, I know that it is a substantial chore, so I'm not surprised no one else has invested the time. I certainly couldn't have done it if I hadn't already thought a good deal about that game just from playing it. For me to write commentary on someone else's postal game (candidate: Adanac vs. 99of9 from the 2005 Postal Tourney) would be at least twice as hard. People seem to be contributing to the community in lots of other great ways as well, for example by coding bots, posting in the forum, posting comments to games, bashing bots, swapping stories in chat, and above all simply by playing lots of Arimaa. |
