Using the tournament ruleset, who wins the following position and in how many moves?

1w Ca4 Rd5
1b rh7 ch8
2w pass

I must be blind, but I see no goaling rabbit ;-)

Me neither but in tournament rules it is given that the player who captures all the opponent's rabbits first is the winner. It could be the possible solution.

I see silver winning in 5.  The first move is 2b ch8w cg8w cf8w ce8s.

Correct, the first move is forced, to prevent the goal. But now gold has a really tricky move available, after which a win for either side will take longer than 5 moves.

The trickiest move I can find for gold is 3w Rd5e Re5e Rf5e Rg5e.  This gives silver lots of losing moves.  Still, I see silver winning no later than 7b with 3b ce7e cf7e cg7s cg6s and then push the R to h3.  I think I am missing the REALLY tricky move.

I think PMertens's move leads to a silver win on 9b.

PM's move is gold's best reply. Silver's next move is again forced. With best play, the game will take longer than 9b.

The next move is 3b ce7w cd7w cc7w cb7s.  I'm not sure about gold's next really tricky move.  Maybe 4w Rb5e Rc5e Cb4n Cb5e to which silver can reply 4b cb6n cb7e cc7e rh7s, but this is not forced since the last step could be cd7s.  So tell us if 3b is correct and if 4w is not.  I still don't see the variation taking this past 9b.

3b is the correct move. 4w is one of the better moves available, but not the best as measured by most moves until the game is over.
