Title: Arimaa on Facebook
Post by fotland on Apr 6th, 2008, 2:05am
Has anyone looked at putting Arimaa on Facesbook?  Download the developer app, read the tutorial and wiki, and it looks like it would be pretty easy to write an arimma client in PHP for facebook.  Add the usual facebook app "invite your friends" page, and you can get a lot of new players.

I don't think a facebook app would be the best use of
anyone's time at this point.   Things like scrabulous
and chess are successful there because everyone already
knows how to play.

A generally available Arimaa at a turn based site
would be a great addition.

Actually, a thread was started about this not too long ago.

It may eventually happen, but right now I don't think we have anyone in the Arimaa community that knows Facebook development well enough to take on this project.

Dave, if you'd like to add Arimaa to you site, please let me know. Just send me a message through the Contact page and we can get started. Since you run a free site your case would fall under section 3 of the Arimaa Public License.

If you started doing this, I'd have to start thinking about something which I had been postponing or a while. That is to create a more general Arimaa games database which includes games from this site, your site and potentially other sources including off line games.

Arimaa isn't high on my list of games to add to Boardspace, but would be welcomed, of course, if someone else did the work :)
