Title: Arimaa dutch rules @ iGGC
Post by christianF on Apr 2nd, 2009, 8:38am
Hello guys, just a note to let you know that I've made a dutch translation of the rules of Arimaa at IG Game Center:
http://www.iggamecenter.com/info/nl/arimaa.html

I've taken the liberty to translate 'rabbit' with 'haas' (hare). You see, we associate a hare with speed and a race, whereas we associate 'rabbit' with something quite different, where 'speed' is not of the highest priority (though it is for rabbits).

Moreover, someone really stupid is referred to as "dom konijn" (stupid rabbit).
If anyone prefers 'konijn' after this, please let me know ;)

I think it is a great idea, you get my vote for 'haas' !

Attention to detail is the mark of a great translation... :)

Wow, thanks Christian; that was very nice of you. I agree a hare would be more appropriate to give a connotation of speed.
