There are 7 live games involving a human right now and every single one is against a bot!! Why don't people challenge each other once in a while on here? I imagine that it seriously hinders how fast Arimaa grows in popularity when no new players can play other humans. I never get challenges from people and it can take quite a while to get a game with a person because everybody is busy playing bots!

For most people Arimaa is still a very new game and they are still trying to get familiar with it, so playing the bots is an easy way to do that.

I still tend to play bots more than humans because its so convenient. There is probably also a comfort aspect to it too. But I think if we have more HvH events it will help wean us off the bots :-)

I can't understand this comfort aspect. Somebody can't handle losing a board game to somebody through the internet??

Personally, I am thrilled to see seven people playing bots all at once. Maybe they aren't comfortable playing humans yet, but the players who stick around tend to eventually get tired of just bot-bashing, and start to play other humans for more interesting games. Think of the bot ladder as a gateway drug to the full addiction of Arimaa. :)
