Title: An entertaining game Post by FireBorn on Mar 4th, 2010, 9:57am I just played a fun game against GnoBot2005Blitz. Being a blitz game, I'm sure I missed a lot of good moves, but I just had too much fun not to share :) It starts out with me losing 4 rabbits in exchange for a cat and a rabbit and control of three traps. Gold quickly takes my camel hostage near the North East trap, to which I respond by advancing a couple rabbits and a dog on that wing. (Epiph, if you're reading this, here's a good example of creating long term goal threats after a camel hostage, which I learned thanks to Fritzlein's Beginning Arimaa :)). After some jockeying for position and some goal threats by both of us, gold decides to blockade both our elephants in the corner! As soon as I can, I threaten another goal on the West wing, splitting his defenses. He responds with a goal threat of his own on the same side. I (accidentally) sacrifice a horse in exchange for elephant mobility and a cat in the North East. Then I quickly break down his defenses in the North East while my cat and rabbit block his goal threat in the South West. Finally, it all ends with an elephant sac to goal :). Ah, sweet sweet victory. http://arimaa.com/arimaa/games/jsShowGame.cgi?gid=136540&s=b |

Title: Re: An entertaining game Post by Fritzlein on Mar 4th, 2010, 10:23am That was indeed a wild and wacky game. Thanks for sharing. The double elephant blockade position is a hoot. Sometimes when my games go down similar lines for a while I forget how crazy Arimaa can get. Arimaa is a fun battlefield, pure and simple. |
