Gday all,

The other day I decided to sign up for auto postal matches, but I got a surprise. I got paired with a bot that was 560 rating points lower than me, even though I asked for opponents within 150 points. What's up with that?

The other thing is, I was expecting (don't know why I assumed this) that my opponents would be human. Maybe if others agree, we could get some radio buttons to choose out of HvH, HvB or HvX?

The auto postal is almost exactly what you expected.

You just have to play a bot in your first auto postal game. Once that game has been finished you'll get human opponents within your specified rating range.

Thanks for mentioning this. I should include a message to let the players know that the first game is against a bot just to get familiar with how it works and that following games will be against humans.

No worries, I'm off and racing now (albeit getting beaten, but the hope of a comeback, or at least a close race to goal is what makes arimaa great).

On a related note: Is there a way to see all the players signed up for auto postal games?
