Title: A question to Omar:
Post by Arimabuff on Apr 20th, 2010, 2:10am
Why do you put your game against Adanac at the same time as mine? Don't you think it would benefit both games audience wise if they were scheduled at different times? Please reconsider this seriously or move my game to some other time.

Omar, I wouldn't mind moving our game 2 or 3 hours earlier if you were thinking of re-scheduling our game.

That wasn't Omar it was me. Apologies. I have rescheduled to two hours later. Only problem is that it now clashes with another League Game. Omar, is there a way for event organisers to see what times players have entered in the scheduler? I would have rescheduled for another time except I don't know what times you and Adanac have put in as first choices...

Arimaabuff, I apologize for being in a hurry all day and not being able to be a bit more thoughtful when scheduling the game time. I'm not trying to sabotage you. Honest. This is the first ever World League we have ever organized and we're bound to have teething problems. We're all learning together.

Today is Tuesday. We have until Saturday to solve this. I will discuss it with Omar and Adanac. Whatever happens we will make sure your challenge game goes ahead unhampered.

When something goes wrong, instead of blowing our tops wouldn't it be better to just accept that we're all human and make mistakes, trust each other, and work together to make it work? I know you will. :)

You people are supposed to have a brain  inside your head. We're not exactly dealing with the great unwashed here.

I still think you owe me an apology.

Thanks for all the effort you're putting into the World League, Joel!  I'm sure we can easily find a schedule that will accomodate everyone, especially because virtually all the WL games will finish in 2 hours or less.

I'll suggest the following times to Omar, all in GMT.

Wednesday 23:00
Saturday any 12:00-15:00
Sunday any 12:00-15:00

I got a question. Are the scheduled game times in the gameroom GMT or my local time? Thanks.

If you're logged into the gameroom it should display your local time.  If you're not logged into the gameroom and you look at a tournament page from the left side of the Arimaa.com homepage then you'll see GMT.

Hi FireBorn,

The times may depend on your personal setting.  For me it is local time.  I have your game starting at 2 pm my time (CDT), so if you're in California, it should start at Noon your time (PDT).

Pat, I think you are jumping the gun a bit on this. Joel scheduled the games using the scheduling tool and didn't do anything deliberately to cause an overlap with your game. It is really my fault for forgetting to update my preferred times to not allow my game while your game was going on. I definitely want to watch the challenge match game. Greg and I are working out a different time.

Also it's my fault for miscalculating when the world league games should start. I would have preferred that no other live event games are going on while the challenge match games are in progress. Next year I'll have to make sure the world league games start a week later.

I apologize for my overreaction to this. I misread the action as deliberate or dismissive while it was an honest mistake. I will play as is expected of me.

No worries.

That's the thing with cyberspace, it's 10 times easier to get the wrong end of the stick than with face-to-face. :)

All the best with your challenge match!

I'm glad you'll be playing, Patrick.  I'm looking forward to giving blow-by-blow commentary of your demolition of marwin.  :)

I hope Omar won't forget to record this one then, because I'd be honored to have an audio recording of your commentary of my game. :)

Cool. Looking forward to this.

Can someone else also try recording in case mine doesn't turn out good.

Omar I must warn you that for some reason the teamspeak recording system takes up way too much space. I did several tests and it turns out that it creates a 5-megabyte file to store 26 SECONDS!!!

That would mean 1 gigabyte for a little more than one hour. I am sure it can be done with much less. I don't know why it is so inefficient.

I may be able to record it without using teamspeak, since my sound card allows to record its own output (as many do I think, just select "stereo mix" as the recording source).

Tell me if you're interested.

I am. Thanks in advance. :)

Yes, the teamSpeak recording option seems to generate very big files. I will be using audacity to do the recording. It generates small files even with good quality.

Yes, it would be great if you can. But I would suggest using Audacity for the recording instead of teamSpeak.
