Title: Chess With Friends Post by FireBorn on Jul 14th, 2010, 9:39am Check out the iPhone app "Chess With Friends". It's basically a very user-friendly untimed, unrated postal-game-only chess app. You sign up, and then you can play your friends by selecting them from your contact list, and if they don't have the app you can invite them to download it from within the app. Or you can have the app match you with a random person. I keep wishing there were an app like this for arimaa! :) |

Luna Lovegood is a very random person. I might not recommend playing chess with her, unless you want your knights turned into goats. |

Title: Re: Chess With Friends Post by omar on Jul 21st, 2010, 1:16pm Funny you should mention this. I tried contacting NewToy by email, but never heard back from them. Can't seem to find their phone number. http://newtoyinc.com/wp/ Naveed recently got an Android phone and I was able to use it's web browser to make a move in my postal game; I was using the JavaScript client. I'm not sure why that doesn't work on the iPhone. But the ease of use and notifications make the 'Chess With Friends' app very desirable. If anyone is connected to Paul or David Bettner, please help me get in touch with them. |

At any given time there are hundreds, maybe even thousands of people around the world ready to play a game of Chess. We're far from being at that stage in Arimaa. |

Title: Re: Chess With Friends Post by FireBorn on Jul 22nd, 2010, 5:03pm It's okay because the games are postal, and they have a matchmaking system. So two players don't even have to be searching for a game at the same time. It just starts one and lets you move and picks an opponent for you. |
