Title: Scoring a position for deciding winner Post by clojure on Oct 26th, 2010, 11:00am I just went through the tournament rules to see what happens if two bots would try to play the game as long as possible (time-wise). I found that after eight ( 8 ) hours, the game is decided by score. http://arimaa.com/arimaa/learn/matchRules.html I couldn't find anywhere what this score means. Could someone elaborate? Also is it possible to have a draw score-wise? |

Title: Re: Scoring a position for deciding winner Post by woh on Oct 27th, 2010, 6:23am There used to be a scoring system but it is no longer used. The rules for this situation are explained near the top of the match rules page: Quote:
A draw is not possible. Further down the page scoring is still mentioned: Quote:

Yes. I meant the second one. It's very confusing. There are mentions of the score in the examples also. Thanks for the explanation. |

Title: Re: Scoring a position for deciding winner Post by omar on Oct 27th, 2010, 11:04pm Thanks for pointing this out. I modified the page to mention that "the player who currently has or most recently had more pieces left after the completion of a turn wins. Otherwise the player to move second wins" is the scoring method. So later references to scoring the game are referring to this. |

Does "the player to move second" mean Silver? Or just the player who hasn't the turn at that moment? |

Title: Re: Scoring a position for deciding winner Post by omar on Dec 23rd, 2010, 9:02am It means the silver player. I just updated the Match Rules page to note that it means silver. |
