Title: Super deal on Arimaa sets
Post by omar on Dec 8th, 2010, 12:18am
This web site www.tanga.com is selling Arimaa sets for $12 + $7 shipping. I don't know how long it will last, but I've never seen the sets selling for less than about $23. So this is a great price.

Only ships to US. At that price I should have known. *sighs*

Here Omar, I really think you should look into getting yourself a European distributor. Your target audience would at least double.

Tanga's deal sold out.  That reminds me that Z-man was offering Arimaa deeply discounted at BGG.con, and that sold out quickly too.

I wonder whether Z-man is offering a discount on wholesale Arimaa prices to retailers, in order to unload his (relatively large) inventory.  If so, it is good news that a lower price is making the sets fly off the shelves.  It means that there is truly a market for Arimaa sets, and that the only problem was that the price point was too high.  $40 MSRP always did strike me as pricey for an animal-themed chess set.

Actually the MSRP was going to be $30, but I insisted on the pieces having a metal weight. That pushed the price up to $40.

It's possible to find the sets for under $30. But seems like the moving price is under $15.

ZMan does have European distributors and many retail outlets there.

I found an Arimaa set in a game shop in Budapest about a year ago :)
