Title: Does anyone have the same thought process I do Post by ginrunner on Mar 25th, 2011, 4:44pm Ok so I have a tendency to give pieces "jobs" as in horses are offensive unless absolutely needed for something else and such etc. I feel like this is a pretty common approach (and maybe limiting to skill since it tends to lose a bit of flexibility). The next thing I consider though is, for example, if both sides have lost a camel and a horse I consider the horses to be camels and the dogs to be horses and take up the jobs that those pieces had since the heavier piece probably had a more important job. Im just wondering if this is how others think and also if people think this may be a terrible way to approach the game. |

Title: Re: Does anyone have the same thought process I do Post by ginrunner on Mar 29th, 2011, 4:22pm my basic thought process is as follows: elephant is initially used to create a disturbance and force the op into a strat they dont like and then used as a defense sort of for my advanced pieces camel is used as an opposite side push. This usually gets me into trouble actually and I'm trying to figure out a better way to go about my plans horses are my most offensive pieces dogs are backup to my horses; wait in the wings and come out when necesary. cats are defensive until i feel like the board is depleted enough in which case if it comes to it they may make it to the middle of the board. |

Title: Re: Does anyone have the same thought process I do Post by UruramTururam on Mar 30th, 2011, 3:49am My thoughts (in Nonsensopedia style): Elephant: It does what it wants to do. Most of all it likes to stare into the same hole its opposing counterpart does. Camel: This piece exists to flee elephants. Horse: Giving it more power than it has in chess made it an aggressive piece. It likes to charge early (mainly if supported by another piece like for example an elephant). Dog: Who cares about dogs anyway? Cat: Most of all it wants to prove it's worth more than a mere rabbit. Rabbit: A schizophrenic piece. Usually it wants to go backward, but cannot do that. But in rare situations when it wants to go forward, it is pushed back. |
