Title: Question about pushing /pulling your own pieces... Post by poopiegoldberg on Mar 16th, 2017, 11:37pm Hey guys, I'm a complete Arimaa rookie but very much in love with the design of this wonderful game! I did have a question regarding pushing and pulling as it pertains to your own pieces. I know the rules state that the only condition under which rabbits can be moved backwards is if they're being pushed or pulled in that direction. My question is: does that rule apply to me and my own rabbits? In other words, can I come up from behind and pull a rabbit of mine back towards my own territory? Or on that same token, could I push it back with one of my pieces positioned in front of it? I assume the concept of pushing or pulling any of your oown pieces using other pieces of yours is irrelevant, given that they can move in any direction they please as it is. Am I wrong? Is there some circumstance in which you might / could / would want to push or pull your own pieces? My apologies if this has been asked before - I searched the forums and found nothing! Thanks in advance. -Marc |

Title: Re: Question about pushing /pulling your own piece Post by aaaa on Mar 17th, 2017, 6:18am Pushing or pulling your own pieces, including rabbits, is against the rules. If it were allowed, not only would you be able to retreat your own rabbits this way, but it would also allow for the possibility of extracting a piece from a square where it would otherwise be frozen if a stronger friendly neighbor had just stepped away. |
