Welcome to the Atlantics, kings of the ocean. Please introduce yourself, either as a player or a fan. Help us plan our path to glory!

Don't forget to check out the wiki for news about the 2010 League, and friendly matches in the next few months...

Looking forward to the first games of 2010!

I have a question about something on the Wiki.
http://arimaa.com/arimaa/mwiki/index.php/2010_Arimaa_World_League

It says

Quote:
You play a maximum of one game every two weeks

Since we only have 5 players at the moment, I'm guessing that someone needs to play both weeks?

From the League FAQ link on the wiki

Quote:
A match is played over 2 weeks. In Week 1 the captain and his teammates work out who is available to play in that match. At the end of Week 1 the captain of each team submits three names (the roster) to the League Co-ordinator. The League Co-ordinator sets up the games on Tuesday. On Wednesday the players have a chance to ask to change the game times. Then the games are played between Thursday of Week 2 and Monday of the following week.

OK.  I think I got it now...

So, three people will play each two week period.

If a team had 5 members, then each member could expect to play about 1 game every four weeks - and one player (not necessarily the same player every time) would play two games every four weeks - assuming no one else signs up.

That is correct.

The week before each game we will discuss who is available to play.  Ideally, we will alternate players as much as possible.  I suggest we use private messages to decide the final roster so our opponents can't plan accordingly.  Discussion for the first game starts this Monday!

Hi guys, I've switched over to the Atlantics now, since we needed more players here.

Time to decide who's playing our first round with the Ring of Fire!

I am messaging everyone with my current thoughts on the roster.

Congratulations to ocmiente for the first win of the League!  Thank you to everyone who played for giving it your best shot.

We will begin discussion for the next round starting on Thursday as that is when my finals are over.

Thanks, novacat.  I was lucky to recover from the horse frame at the beginning of the game.

It was a lot of fun, but I'll try to keep the game a little less exciting next time  :)

Hi all,

Anyone interested in having another League event immediately after this one?  It would run from July to September, so it should not interfere with other events.  Let me know if you will be available and want to play.

Thanks,
novacat

I'll likely have slightly reduced general overall ability, as a result of potentially having a job, and I'm pretty sure I'll be actually out of town for a week or two, but I'd still be interested.

Thank you everyone for representing the Atlantics in what turned out to be a really close battle to the end.  I am very proud of the performance of our team, and that we had no forfeits.

If anyone is interested in being captain of the team, let me know!  I can still do it, but would be happy to let someone else have a chance.

Hi Atlantics!  I would like to join the team.  I've been playing Arimaa for (checks watch...) 5 days now.  My availability may be a little tough, as I have 2 young kids and a job... but I'll do my best.

Sorry Atlantics.  Unless you can promise to schedule me for Thursday or Tuesday night (EDT), I guess I can't play. :'(

Thanks for trying.  In the future, if you can't play at the scheduled time, you are free to talk to your opponent and agree on a different time.

Also don't know how to change the schedule.  But more importantly, I don't think there is a European-friendly time that works for me.

This club, with all due respect, seems to be a bit underpowered, so allow me to join it for the completely selfish reason of getting opportunities to play strong opponents. :)
