Hey!

I am sorry to say this, but I have to drop out for undefined time. I hope to participate later in this year.

Good luck for the rest of the team :)

Hey, you're neck-deep into work but you can still come and cheer the team once in a while ;)
Being in the Europa team doesn't mean you have to play every week (or so I guess).

And, as Chessango said: Yay!

Megajester told about making a banner for the Team yesterday.
Any ideas? Using a running horse instead of an elephant or rabbit?

Yay :) I will cheer if not by online presence, at least in my thoughts.

I hope I would be able to allocate 60/119 play times at some occasional week even after the WC ends. But it would be absolutely OK to play rarely as I have become rather expensive (compared to my real strength :)).

So what we really need are available players with WHR around 1600-1700. So count with my support (at least as spectator).

Welcome, BlueScreen!
Have a look at last year's AWL pages to see how it works:
http://arimaa.com/arimaa/mwiki/index.php/2010_Arimaa_World_League
It involves some complicated calculations but that's for the captains to break their head on :P

Hi all,

I've not really much idea how this works either, nor am I very good, but I think it would be good for me to play some games against humans, especially ones which actually mean something - so I'd like to sign up if possible. And Europa seems the obvious team for me (I'm British, but the UK is definitely a part of Europe as far as I'm concerned, despite what some here like to think).

I would also like to join the team and play some games. Do i also have to sign up  somewhere else now?

Given the fact that it's a bit late to join, put me on the supporter list.
I'll surely play in the 2012 Arimaa World League.

Yes you are chosing among slots 1-119, and they are translated to your local time to be more convenient to you. (You have sent your local time in the profile, aren't you)

Title: Re: -- EUROPA --

I think I got it. I'm in the GMT+2 timezone, btw

Edit: and I saved my time slots

Hi teammates,
I hoped to be more lucky in intersection times with Eric.
This 4:00am slot was my 4th priority. I don't expect a lot of you will see it on-line, but I will do my best.
I am planning to sleep Sunday evening to be ready to play on Monday earlymorning.
According to all ratings this should be very close match (but I am a lot overrated due to random win against Fritzlein).

Post by Nombril on Aug 24th, 2011, 1:11pm
I was surprised by the time slot, because I have a lot of times open during your daytime hours.  Feel free to message me with some other options that would be better, and I will check my schedule.

What does the cost (http://arimaa.com/arimaa/mwiki/index.php/2011_AWL_Round_2_Results) represent?

We would hardly rearange the game for today and you surely don't like playing after slot 113. I have already persuaded myself that 99 is the best what I can get.
Thanks anyway.

Each player's cost roughly corresponds to his HvH (WHR) rating. This is sum of the costs.
At the end of turn sum of player costs would be the team cost ... except cases where there was a substitution. ... for these cases look to the rules page.

The jury spoke of 'an outstanding performance'.

Well deserved, I think.

I have missed my game, I apologize to the team and to Nombril. It's not the first time that I miss a game, I feel like a complete idiot.

I see in my recent game list that the game was on Sunday; I didn't see an email with the game annoucement, and never saw the game when I connected to the gameroom either. I wonder how i can have missed it.

Sorry Europans. Go team :(

Hm that's strange, I saw all six games scheduled in the section 'Scheduled games' for a week or so, also 5 top league games were listed in 'Annoucements' section. This is the top of the page... Well you know you are playing in the event, you know the dates, just log in and take a look at the top of the page... ??? :-/

That was an irony, wasn't it? I think the organization of this event is really good.

Well, yes, email notification would be fine. But hell, man, that was on the top of the top page!

TOP! TOP! TOP!

Hey Europans...

Only a few of you have filled in the survey for the next season (http://freeonlinesurveys.com/rendersurvey.asp?sid=xpwk1qvrid24mj8978465). It only takes a minute, but it'll be a great help. Thanks...

Cheers!

Title: clyring game
Post by froody on Dec 6th, 2011, 6:57pm
ohh. Wow. I'm playing.
How soon before a game can I change the time?
The problem is my sleep is very erratic and I prefer to avoid playing after being awake for 24+ hours, if possible. I will play at the time given if it's impossible to change, but I might suck if I haven't had any sleep. :-/
Exciting.

Title: Re: -- EUROPA --
Post by woh on Dec 7th, 2011, 6:01am
Hi froody

You shoud contact your opponent clyring and agree on a new time.
Afterwards both players should state the new time in this forum.

You can contact him through the message system of this forum or by selecting 'Message' on his player page (http://arimaa.com/arimaa/gameroom/playerpage.cgi?u=clyring) in the gameroom.

For full details on rescheduling take a look at the league rules (click here) (http://arimaa.com/arimaa/mwiki/index.php/2011_AWL_S2_League_Rules) under item 7.

I'm here to kick ass and smoke hashish, and I'm all out of hash.

When is the latest I can reschedule? (is the question).

Anyway, it probably won't matter. I'm not really sleeping at all. :-)

Title: Re: -- EUROPA --
Post by woh on Dec 8th, 2011, 4:36am
You have to agree on a new time and announce it here before the start of the original game. Otherwise that game would still count.

It would be nice to announce it sooner so spectators know about it and don't show up only to see the game postponned.

Title: Re: -- EUROPA --
Post by froody on Dec 8th, 2011, 10:24pm
But in theory I can announce we're changing the game time 2 minutes before the old time was due to start?

Title: Re: -- EUROPA --
Post by megajester on Dec 9th, 2011, 1:41am
Theoretically yes. But please don't.

Theoretically your opponent can refuse to reschedule. So it's a good idea to sort it out as early as possible.

You don't have to play a game.
You can add it to your signature in your profile.

We can win this. If woh continues his great form against adanac .... I am out-rated by boo, but I've been studying a lot, so who knows what could happen .... VinceS vs Eggman .. I have no idea. Who would you make the favourite in that final game?

So _if_ we get all 6 points it takes us to 21, with the atlantics needing 4 points to beat us. Have I got this right? So we need Fritz, Hirocon  and ginrunner to do us a big favour! Go rockies go. Rock those lantics.
