Title: Rescheduling
Post by Nombril on Aug 12th, 2011, 2:06pm
I am leaving on vacation, so this post is just to make a contingency available while I am away from the internet.  I just saw that the current time was low in Fritz's rankings.  Our current game is scheduled for 8PM on Sunday, Central Time.

I will be available to play at the currently scheduled time.

I am also available to play 23 hours later, at 7PM on Monday.

If Fritz confirms here that Monday is a better time for him, then I accept that new time.  Otherwise I will be expected to play at the current schedule time.

Sorry for not completing the arrangements in private, but I will be leaving now until just before gametime on Sunday.

Thanks, Nombril.  Your absence on vacation for the whole weekend helps explain why I got such a low preference.  Thanks for offering to reschedule, but let's go ahead with the time chosen by the scheduler.  I'm satisfied that it was not a malfunction and was a fair choice of time slot.  There was no unexpected event or emergency on my part that would make it fair for me to request a rescheduling.

If Hippo and mistre played their match somebody needs to say something now, otherwise it'll go down as a forfeit for Hippo.

aerzinger vs Hirocon have agreed to move our time to 3pm on Sunday

I'm free all day on Sunday, but you haven't told me what time zone you're in.  3pm in what time zone?

He is on Eastern Daylight Time.  He told me 2 hours after the scheduled time (1pm EDT), which makes the new time 3pm EDT.

So noon PDT.  Okay, that works for me.

I won't be available Saturday at 9 AM.
Me and aaaa agreed to postpone our match for Sunday, 9 PM (our local time).
So, 24 hours.

I agree to rescheduling our game to Sunday 18:00 UTC.

Jean:  I'm OK to play in our current time slot but it's not very spectator friendly.  If you want to re-schedule, here are some other potential time slots I could go with:

1-3 hours later
21-23 hours earlier
69-71 hours earlier
39-41 hours earlier

I would like to reschedule our round 4 AWL game with Fritzlein 3 hours later, that would be 1 am on Sunday for me (UK time, which is UTC if I understood correctly) and 7pm Saturday for Fritz I think. He said he would post his agreement here.

Cheers
Jean

I agree to postpone our scheduled game by three hours, to slot 74.  Sorry, Jean, that the most convenient time for you is at 1:00 in the morning!

Oh well no problem, Greg played at 6 or 7 am last week. I guess such happens when European time meets Arimacan time. I'm a night owl and he's an early riser, so neither of us are gonna complain. :)

Omar and I have agreed to play our game one hour earlier than originally scheduled, at 1PM central time.

our game is still at the original time; I suppose it'll be fine if we create a new game, or enter the scheduled game 3 hours later?

Does this help?

7.1.1 After players have privately agreed to reschedule the game, one of them must open a new thread in the "2011 Arimaa World League" section of the forum, stating that he and his opponent are rescheduling their official League game, providing the exact time. Once both players have clearly signalled their agreement in the thread, this game is considered the official game. The game advertised by the system in the gameroom is invalidated and is allowed to lapse.

I assume it is OK to recycle this thread rather than start a new thread for each reschedule request.

Oh ok, thanks. Sorry for the absence of a new thread, I hope posting here was ok as Omar says.

Except if we hope to have more spectators, it would be nice to update the scheduled games when we have agreed to new times far ahead of time...

Just woke up to an important announcement from Eggman:

"Hi, Dolus. Our game today starts at 1:00 my time. Unfortunately I just found out I have to be somewhere at 12:30. I may make it back home by 1:00 but it will be close. Would you like to postpone our game until 1:30, just to be on the safe side (i.e. half an hour later than scheduled)? If that doesn't work for you, I'll bust my tail to be back by 1:00."

Yes, I am willing to postpone our game by half an hour later than scheduled (2 and a half hours from this post). Hopefully Eggman can post here in time to confirm.

Thanks, Dolus. I appreciate your agreement to start our game half an hour later than scheduled and am posting this in confirmation.

For some reason I have real difficulty getting my time preferences changed in time for the World League.  I logged into the gameroom yesterday but couldn't change my time preferences because "I wasn't registered".  Now I can change my preferred time but the games are already scheduled.

rabbits:  Is it OK if we move our game 6-7 hours earlier?  I have the whole day off on Friday but I'm too close to dinner time with the whole family.  And we'll probably be doing something in the afternoon too.  I'm not sure what time zone you're in but if you're EST then I'm thinking 10am - 11am works better.  If you're a late riser then maybe early afternoon but on a different day like December 24th or 26th.

I hope it's not because of something I'm doing...

Did you try clicking "Register"?

I don't remember but that would explain the error message that I got!  Oh well, hopefully we can negotiate a time that works for both of us.

Well, if you didn't it might have been because immediately above it there's a box for you to write in the name of your bot if you're registering a bot. If you're registering yourself you just leave the box blank and click "Register", but that one you have to work out for yourself. It's could be made a bit more obvious...

Hmm, I may be traveling from Tennessee to Michigan soon, and I don't want to risk that conflicting with the game.  I could reschedule for pretty much any time on the 26th or 27th.

How about anytime between 9am to 2pm on Monday the 26th.  That would put us somewhere between 2 hours before to 3 hours after the mistre-Nombril game?  I'll let you pick the time that works best for you that day.

Ah, the forum didn't tell me that you replied... Thanks to Ocmiente for messaging me.

How about noon (EST) on Monday the 26th?

That means our games will be going on simultaneously.  That should make for an exciting finish!
