Title: Anyone wants to let their bot play in CC?
Post by deep_blue on Jan 1st, 2016, 11:18am
Hello to all bot programmers. I wondered if there's still interest in a CC and who would like to possibly join it. So far "joined" (just post below and I'll add you):
bot_meijin,
bot_sharp
Also, what about the rules this year? It seems there won't be a server this year, so everybody will run the bot on home computer?

If this takes place, bot_sharp will almost certainly be in. Also sharp will be identical or extremely close to the 2015 version, so a bot that was competitive before and has improved a lot might be able to take the lead. :)

If there's interest, the logistics are a good topic for discussion. I'm willing to pay for an amazon server to host if we want to standardize hardware (although it would be ideal if someone else could handle the organization and technical details). Depending on the state of spectatoring and the goals of the tournament, I wonder if it would be reasonable to run a lot more games but with shorter time controls.

I don't have a bot.
I've never run a tournament before.
I know a fair amount about Amazon Web Services.  (We use it at work.)
I'll volunteer to be involved on the technical or logistics side.  This is too much for me to do by myself though.
