Title: Fate of WCC and Arimaa Challenge
Post by mattj256 on Apr 19th, 2015, 11:20pm
Congratulations to lightvector on a very well-deserved victory.

Will there be an Arimaa World Computer Championship in 2016?
Will there be an Arimaa Challenge in 2016?

(I'm not expecting an answer right away; I just don't want these questions to get lost.)

I don't see a reason why there shouldn't be a WCC.
And I really hope (and expect) that there will be a Man vs. Machine sort of thing (without money then).
Actually I would find it nice to have postals Sharp vs. Defenders (each one getting his own postal) and Sharp vs. Mob, if possible every year to see if we can at least beat it at really long TC or only the community together.

A challenge Bot versus Humans, with the Bot as defender would be nice, even without money. But I think such kind of event should be open to all, like the screening, but with more games. Perhaps a best of 5?

As for the WCC, I see that there is people still developing bots, even after  the Challenge was won, so why not?

Any plans for a WCC and/or Arimaa Challenge?

I've never run a tournament before.  I'd love to get the ball rolling.
Is there community interest in a WCC and/or Arimaa Challenge?
Does this require Omar's involvement or permission?  Has Omar said anything about 2016 Arimaa tournaments?
